PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was one of the vanguards of the Battle Royale genre when it launched in 2017. It instantly became one of the world’s most popular online games, in constant competition with Fortnite . Recently, though, the genre has exploded in popularity , with new games coming out at a rapid pace and existing games adding Battle Royale modes to get in on the trend. Most of these games add features that expand on the genre, increasing the pressure on PUBG to keep adding new twists its
"Maybe it was its immersive gameplay, or its gripping story... its well-crafted characters, immaculate design, or addictive multiplayer. Whatever the reason, the winner of 2018's Game of the Year Award is an instant classic," Steam announc
Patch 30 brings an enormous change to the game with the addition of ledge grabbing. According to the official patch notes on the PUBG website, players will be able to grab onto the edge of most obstacles that are up to 2.5 meters high. The change will allow smoother movement as players will be able to leap from obstacle to obstacle without ever touching the ground. It will even allow players to climb onto roofs, opening up areas that were previously inaccessible. This is the first of two planned updates dealing with the ledge grab. The current update doesn’t allow players to grab onto or slide down railings, which the developers say will be added in the second update. The developers also note that they’re looking for feedback from players to improve the new feat
Greene would later add that he's also " done the killing thing ," which seems to indicate that the creator is also exploring games with a much less violent focus than the title that he made his name off of. If Greene is done with battle royale, he's certainly left a lasting impression on the genre already. PUBG was one of the first titles in the genre to illustrate just how much potential it had, and even if it has since fallen out of favor because of the success of Fortnite and Apex Legends , the latter two games owe their current popularity to the groundwork PUBG laid before t
At the moment, it's uncertain if the Chinese regulators have begun enforcing this ban because Fortnite and PUBG are still playable. Until then, however, all players can enjoy all that season 7 of Fortnite has to offer, including the latest OP weapon, the Infinity Bl
Overall, Patch 30 adds plenty of content to keep players interested. While it’s likely nothing that would sway new players to finally try the game out, it may be enough to bring back lapsed players who previously found the game’s relative lack of mobility annoying. It’s also interesting to see PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds _ presumably taking cues from newer Battle Royales , with the addition of Radio Messages that seem clearly inspired by _Apex Legends ’ widely praised pinging sys
PlayerUnknown _ 's _ **BATTLEGROUNDS ** ' Erangel, the map that arguably kickstarted the battle royale craze, is finally getting a much-needed facelift and mechanical overhaul later this summer. PUBG is one of the most successful battle royale titles of all time, although the game has recently fallen on harder times with the subsequent successes of the now much more popular Fortnite and, to a lesser extent, Apex Legends ,
Patch 30 adds a good amount of additional updates, most notably the Deagle (a version of the powerful Desert Eagle handgun found in many games) and a set of pre-written text messages called Radio Messages. Players can select these from a radial menu to quickly communicate with teammates when they can’t use voice c
In addition to bringing parkour into PUBG , Patch 30 also introduces a new vehicle, the BRDM-2, which can travel through water, though at a greatly reduced speed. The BRDM-2 is an armored vehicle that can only be found by calling it in with a flare gun, and it replaces the UAZ that used to be called in the same way. It’s a much hardier vehicle than the UAZ, able to withstand twice the amount of damage and equipped with unbreakable wheels. That makes it an excellent transport vehicle, but to balance it out, players can’t fire weapons while onbo
In an interview conducted with GamesIndustry.biz , Greene was asked about his current position within the company and what his stance was moving forward with games like PUBG crafting guide|Https://pubgfrontierzone.com/ and the battle royale genre as a whole. Greene indicated that he believed the team behind PUBG is more than prepared to thrive in his absence, which gave him the chance to announce the Special Projects division. When prompted about the state of battle royale in general, though, and his position on it, Greene gave a response that may shock fans of his w
PUBG is getting up there in age for a battle royale title , especially given the speed with which the market for these games fluctuates. Revisiting some old magic isn't a bad idea, but it does seem to ignore the much deeper problem of needing a fundamental design change to keep up with the games that PUBG inspired. Those titles have the benefit of fixing what PUBG did sub-optimally and innovating, and with so many iterations of that, now it's **PUBG ** 's turn to see if it can turn back the clock and refresh the game enough to become a stalwart of battle royale streaming once m
